Abstract:
A taxonomic study of leaf roller moths in the tribe Olethreutini (Tortricidae: Olethreutinae) was conducted at Phou Khao Khouay National Park, located in middle region of Laos, in June 2016 and January 2017. For the purpose of initially micromoths study concentrated in the tribe Olethreutini. The olethreutine moths were collected with light traps consisted of white fabrics stretched with ropes that fixed between trees, and 125 watts mercury vapor operated with electric generator and blacklight 20 watts connected with car battery. Specimens were collected during 6.00 pm 6.00 am from six different collecting sites; Tad Xay Waterfall, Pha Sad, Tad Luak Waterfall, Ban Wang Heuo 1, 2 and 3. Forest habitat varies from elevations of 200 1,000 m above sea level. Mixed deciduous forest is in low land to pine forest at top of mountain. The study resulted in collection of 144 Olethreutini specimens that could be grouped into 38 morphospecies and classified into 19 genera; Apsidophora, Bactra, Dudua, Diakonoffiana, Dicepharlacha, Gatesclarkeana, Hedya, Hoplitendemis, Lobesia, Megalota, Neopotamia, Ophiorrhabda, Phaecasiophora, Rhopaltriplasia, Sisona, Sorolopa, Statherotis, Sycacantha and Syntozyga. From this study, Diakonoffiana laosensis Phewphanh and Pinkaew, n.sp. and Lobesia acicula Phewphanh and Pinkaew, n.sp were described to new species and twenty five species were reported as new record in Laos.
