Factors influencing knowledge sharing towards quality and innovation
Abstract:
There are three objectives in this research. The first objective is to identify the factors which influence the effectiveness of knowledge sharing in the herbal industry. The second objective is to prioritize these factors. The last objective is to further develop a knowledge-sharing framework as a basis to improve quality and innovation for the herbal industry. The research model is based on Theory of Planned Behavior or TPB. In addition, the research methodology includes the use of the questionnaire for data collection from the companies. The data is analyzed by various statistical methods such as Friedman Test and Structural Equation Model (SEM). For the proposed knowledge-sharing framework, a case company with the experts feedback is used for its validation. For the researchs findings, there are five factors based on TPB. They are: attitude, subjective norm such as social pressure, perceived behavioral control, intention to share knowledge, and knowledge-sharing behavior. In addition, based on the frequency cited from the literatures, the factors that influence the effective knowledge sharing include leadership, trust, organizational culture, information technology, and motivation. Based on the SEM, the Information technology has the highest effect on knowledge-sharing behavior while leadership has the least impact. Finally, the predictability of the proposed framework for the herbal industry is as follows. 36.5% of the variance in knowledge sharing is from the intentions while the behavior accounts for 76%.
