Abstract:
Chemical investigation of an ethanolic extract from Aegle marmelos (L.) Corr. fruits using
chromatographic method led to the isolation of imperatorin (1). The structure was identified by spectroscopic
techniques. Imperatorin is a major component in the fruits of A. marmelos and showed interesting biological
activity that can be applied for chemical marker in quality control process. The quantitative determination of
imperatorin in the extract was measured by RP-HPLC. The separation was performed using VDSpher C18-E
(4.6 x 250 mm, 5 um) column. The mobile phase was 70% MeOH/deionized water, and the flow rate was 0.7
mL/min. The UV detection wavelength was 254 nm. The calibration curve of imperatorin was linear with R
= 1.0000. Furthermore, limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) values were 0.14 and 0.43
ug/mL, respectively. In addition, the accuracy showed %orecovery between 97.7-104.3% and %RSD values in
the range of 1.11-1.89% while the accuracy exhibited %RSD at 1.70%. The amount of imperatorin in the
ethanolic extract of A. marmelos was about 1.56% w/w
