Abstract:
Five new itaconic acid derivatives (1, 2,3, 5, and 6), together with three known derivatives (4, 7, and
8), and tensyuic acid D, were isolated from culture broth extract of the basidiomycete Clitopilus sp. TBRC-
BCC 73988 by Sephadex gel column chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. Their
structures were elucidated based on spectroscopic analysis including NMR, MS, and UV. Compounds 2-4
and 6-8 exhibited anti-TB (Mycobacterium tuberculosis, H37Ra) activity with MIC values in the range of
12.5-25.0 pg/mL and had no cytotoxicity (ICso > 50 pg/mL) against non-cancerous Vero cells (African green
monkey kidney fibroblasts).
