Abstract:
The aims of this thesis are to develop and apply new probability distributions, the differential equation is employed to develop these probability distributions. The developed probability distributions in this thesis are modified hyperbolic secant, symmetry modified hyperbolic secant and multimodal modified hyperbolic secant distributions. Some probability functions are included, such as, probability density, cumulative density, survival and hazard functions. Some mathematical properties are discussed, such as, Laplace transform, and moment generating function. The parameter estimation of the developed distributions based on maximum likelihood estimation technique is derived. Some applications of the developed distributions to real datasets are illustrated. The finding results, we found that the modified hyperbolic secant distribution presented the skew distribution and shift location of distribution, the symmetry modified hyperbolic secant distribution presented the symmetrical and shift location of distribution and the multimodal modified hyperbolic secant distribution provided the extended unimodal of modified hyperbolic secant distribution. The usefulness of the developed distributions are risk analysis, classification, and clustering. Finally, the decision making based on these developed distributions may be applied.
