Abstract:
This research was conducted to: (1) examine the validity of the college adjustment measurement model and (2) development of a causal relationship model of factors influencing to college adjustment. The samples used in the research were 221 graduate students of Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, gaining from Multi-stage Sampling technique The research instruments consisted of questionnaires on the college adjustment, self-esteem, academic self-efficacy, parental attachment, attitude towards teaching/learning and separation-individuation. The statistics used to analyze the data were exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model. The results found that: (1) the college adjustment measurement model has quality of validity consisting 4 core components, 16 sub-scale because it has been assessed for the quality of the unidimensional, goodness of fit and construct validity. The factors loading values between 0.193-0.877, average variance extracted value was 0.397, construct reliability value was 0.666 and the relationship between the components was at an appropriate level, (2) the covariance between the factors studied and the college adjustment values ranged from 0.404-0.769, all of which were statistical significance at a .01 level. When considering the causal relationship, it was found that all factors had an overall influential on the college adjustment with statistical significance at a .01 level, most of which had a positive influence, except for the independent secession that has a negative influence. The most influence factors are attitude towards teaching/learning, next was self-esteem with the size of influence of 0.625 and 0.413 respectively, and all these five factors together explained variance of college adjustment of the undergraduate students at 71.30%.
