Abstract:
The objectives of this research were: 1) to study a model of STEM-based teaching management, 2) to develop the teaching-learning management model based on the STEM concept, and 3) to propose the model of teaching management based on the STEM concept in Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Division. The integrated research methodology was used in the study. The quantitative information was obtained by questionnaire from 160 samples and analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation. The qualitative data were collected by interviews 10 key-informants and group discussions with 8 experts and then analyzed by content analysis.
The results of the research found that:
1. The STEM based teaching and learning management model is an integrated teaching and learning across subject groups in multi-disciplines, such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The method is to merge the strengths of nature as well as teaching methods of each discipline together in perfect harmony. The purpose is to enable learners to apply knowledge of all fields in solving problems, researching and developing things in the current world situation. There are five steps in STEM based instruction, namely; 1) problem identification stage,
2) concept discovery stage, 3) planning and developing stage, 4) test and evaluation stage, and 5) presentation of results. The personnel are developed by gaining correct knowledge and understanding, exchanging knowledge, experiences and knowledge; training with skills in interdisciplinary activities and creative popular learning theory in tandem based on the principles of Iddhipada.
2. Development of a model of teaching management according to the STEM based education in Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Division, consistsof 4 parts: Part 1: the leading, which is the environment, principles, and objectives; Part 2: the model, which is the 5 steps of STEM based education, namely; 1) Problem Identification Stage, 2) Concept Search Stage, 3) Planning and Developing Stage, 4) Testing and Evaluation Stage, and 5) Results Presentation of STEM based education management integrated with Iddhipada principles, Part 3: The implementation process, which is the management structure, decision-making, and assessment guidelines, and Part 4: conditions for success, which consists of vision, mission, and policy of teaching and learning in accordance with the STEM education concept in Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Division.
3. The model of teaching and learning management based on the concept of STEM education in Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Division, consists of 4 parts: Parts 1 is the leading consisting of 1) Environment, 2) Principle, and
3) Objectives. Parts 2 is Model consisting of 1) five steps of STEM education instruction: 1) problem identification stage, 2) implementation stage, 3) Planning and development stage, 4) Testing and evaluation stage, 5) Results presentation. 1) The 4 principles of Iddhipada are able to lead to success. They are Will, Effort, Dedication, and Investigation, 2) Management process and teaching management model according to the STEM concept for teachers of Phrapariyattidhamma are assessed in 3 aspects: 1) learning atmosphere, 2) learning activities, and 3) benefits derived. Parts 3 is the implementation process consisting of 1) Structure, 2) Decision Making, and 3) Assessment Guidelines, and Part 4 is Condition for success depending on the context of Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Division, including vision, mission, and policy of teaching and learning management based on the concept of STEM in Phrapariyattidhamma School, General Education Division, through the SIP Model.
