Abstract:
The objectives of this research were 1) to study the current condition of student care and assistance in primary schools in Chiang Mai Province, 2) to develop an innovative student care system based on Buddhist principles for primary schools in Chiang Mai, and 3) to present an innovative student care system based on Buddhist principles for primary schools in Chiang Mai by using integrated research methodology, i.e. quantitative research using a sample of 302 people. Statistics used were percentage, mean, and deviation standard. And qualitative research by interviewing 10 qualified persons, group discussion, 10 monks/person
The results of the research found that:
1. The present condition of working to take care of students in primary schools in Chiang Mai in all 5 aspects were at a high level in overall that were getting to know each student individually, promotion and development of students, student screening, student referral and prevention, help and correction of students, respectively.
2. The result of the development of innovative student support system based on Buddhist principles for primary schools in Chiang Mai Province in all 5 aspects that were knowing the students individually, student screening, student promotion and development, preventing, helping and correcting students and student referral based on the four Brahma Vihara principles (Four sublime states of mind). Teachers are loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity towards students through individual student acquaintance activities, student screening activities, activities to promote and develop students and preventive and remedial activities for students with a more quality student support system.
3. Innovation of student care system by integrating the 4 Brahma Vihara principles (Four sublime states of mind), Metta, Karuna, Mutita, Upekkha, (loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity) linked to the ICARE Model, i.e. I (Innovation), C (Care), A (Action), R (Report), E (Evaluation), consist of activities to promote the development of innovative student care systems with 4 activities through which the school's advisors can effectively solve problems.
