Abstract:
The objectives of this research are: 1) to study general leadership characteristics according to Buddhist Reform Plan of administrative monks under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area, 2) to study development process in leadership development according to Buddhist Reform Plan of administrative monks under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area, and 3) to propose a development model in leadership development according to Buddhist Reform Plan of administrative monks under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area. The mixed research methods were used in the study. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaire from 100 samples in 10 provinces under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area. The qualitative data were collected by in-depth interviews with 7 key-informants by using semi-structured interview form and by focus group discussion with 10 experts. The data were analyzed by mean, percentage, standard deviation and content analysis.
The results of the study showed that:
1. The general leadership characteristics according to Buddhist Reform Plan of administrative monks under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area in 7 aspects were at a high level overall (3.77). In aspects by descending order, the highest mean was on administration (4.50), followed by public welfare (4.35), propagation (4.19), development of Phutthamonthon to be the center of Buddhism (4.16), public assistance (4.15), religious study (4.02), and study welfare (3.89) respectively.
2. The development process in leadership development according to Buddhist Reform Plan of administrative monks under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area consists of 5 parts: 1) Principle, 2) Objective, 3) Process, 4) Implementation, and 5) Condition to success.
3. The development model in leadership development according to Buddhist Reform Plan of administrative monks under the Central Region Sangha Administration Area that has been evaluated and approved by the experts is a PKS Model. The administrative monks must have the following qualifications: 1) Personality; this qualification should be trained and practiced regularly until it becomes natural behavior, 2) Knowledge; this refers to the knowledge in clergy law, rules, regulations, resolution, and notices of the Supreme Sangha Council, 3) Skills; the administrative monks must have skills in information technology and teaching methods in both theory and practice.
