Abstract:
The Title of the thesis is "A Study of Buddhist Personnel Training Process of Phrabodhiñanathera (Chā Subhaddo)" intends to study goals, the frame and methods of Buddhist personnel training, such as monks, novices, laymen, laywomen as well as to study the training process of the team leaders of the monks.
This thesis has been carried out in the form of both documentary and field research. The researcher tried to gather all the information about Phrabodhiñanathera (Cha Subhaddo) his autobiography, his work and his sermon that were recorded in the chronicle of more than 15 books. Moreover, The researcher had conducted an interview with two of his followers, who had spent their time learning about the meditation and Dhamma; The results of the research are as follows:
For laypersons, Phrabodhifanathera (Cha Subhaddo) has applied the threefold method of training in morality, concentration, and wisdom (Traisikkha) austerity practice (Dhutaitga), and regular practice (Vatra)
This above-mentioned three subjects are aimming at making the monks keep the rules strictly, practice mediation and have the right perception. This enables the monks at Wat Nongpapong being stick to the rules, have the peaceful mind and the right perception according to the Dhamma.
For austerity practice 13, Phrabodiñanathera (Char Subhaddo) has emphasized that it has to be done with faith and that will support the threefold method as well. The uniqueness of the monks at Wat Nongpapong is to eat out of the alms bowl, have only one meal a day and stay at the arranged place.
For regular practice 14, Phrabodhiñanathera (Chā Subhaddo) has emphasized that the monks and novices must behave themselves, treat people suitably at the right time and at the right place, practice seriously. Phrabodiñanathera (Chă Subhaddo) also stressed the importance of the manner in receiving food, in eating, in keeping the place tidy, in consuming the things wisely and in serving the master.
Phrabodiñanathera (Chā Subhaddo) has tought the people with Ten Items of Meritorious Action, Four Virtues of Household Life and Five Gradual Instructions. This can be achieved via the donation, sacrifice, listen to the sermon with respect and give the preach on the religious days.
For the Four Household conduct, Phrabodiñanathera (Cha Subhaddo) stressed in keeping the morality and refrain from all the bad deeds, to give preach on the religious days, to do merit-making, to give the Dhamma for leading the happy life.
For the Gradual Instruction, Phrabodiñanathera (Chă Subhaddo) has stressed in carrying out the meditation practice, keeping the morality, realizing the harmfulness of passion. This result that the laymen and laywomen of Wat Nongpapong and their subsidiaries got was the peaceful mind.
In order to train the leaders to effectively operated their subsidiaries, Phrabodiñana thera (Cha Subhaddo) used the following Dhamma ; the Six appreciative Actions and, the Qualities of a Good Friend, He has given advice on-the-job training until the leaders have got the satisfied result. As a result of continuous etfort, there are over 196 subsidiaries nationwide and overseas.
Hence, the monk committee should study this methodology and apply in administer and control the monks in order to create harmony and help resolve the problems that may happen in the future.
