Abstract:
This qualitative research has three main objectives namely; 1) to study the concept of palliative care patients according to the medical sciences, 2) to study the Buddhist doctrines to improve the quality of life, and 3) to propose the Buddhist approach to improve the quality of life of palliative patients. The findings show that palliative care referred to as supportive care, is specialized care that focuses on improving quality of life through relief of stress and symptoms for patients with serious illness. Palliative care is appropriate for any patient in the advanced stages of illness, including patients with adult and pediatric and their families facing the problems. Quality of life is a multidimensional concept. It refers to the elements and characteristics that represent the state of well-being. The quality of life in Buddhism is said the holistic of the elements simply called body and mind. Mindfulness on breathing (anāpānasati) in order to solve the health problem of human beings. Buddhist approaches to improve the quality of life the palliative care assessment to identify patients spiritual needs, the term equilibrium refers to the balance between the body systems fitted with the factors supporting to life both internal and external. The equilibration of physical, mental and psycho-physical systems implies a way to deal directly with the factors supporting to quality of life of palliative patients.
