Abstract:
The main objectives of this research were 1) to study the problems and problems in the production of Dhamma programs on radio stations for the elderly, 2) to develop a model for producing Dhamma programs on radio stations for the elderly, and 3) to propose a model to produce Dhamma programs on the radio stations. Research and development technique was used in this study. The qualitative research methods employed for gathering information from documents, interviews, and group discussions by purposive selection. The tools used were interview forms. The content analysis was used for collected data.
The results of the research showed that:
1) The results of a study on the problems of the production of Dhamma programs on radio stations for the elderly revealed that there were five aspects of problems in radio program production, namely, 1) management intervention, 2) administrative structure, 3) radio signal system arrangement, 4) budget, and 5) reaching the target group. There are two formats of Dhamma programs produced on radio stations, namely, 1) the format of the lecture program, and (2) the format of the conversation program.
2) Results of the model development The format for producing Dhamma programs on radio stations for the elderly consisted of six components as follows: 1) target groups are elderly people who were Dharma listeners, 2) the content of the Dharma, which are the principles of the five precepts (Pancasila), the five ennobling virtues (Pancadhamma), threefold training (Tisikkha), and grounds for accomplishing merit (Punnkariyavathu), 3) moderators who are monks or laymen, 4) four forms of Dharma program production which are (1) Dharma lecture program format, (2) Dharma discussion program format, (3) Dharma activity format, and (4) Dharma entertainment format. 5) Language and Sound: program easy to listen to, understandable, and mixed with music. 6) Channels for organizing Dharma programs via radio media like the website, YouTube, Facebook, online radio.
3) The proposed 4 formats for producing Dhamma programs on radio stations for the elderly were found in this study: (1) Dharma lecture programs and (2) Dharma discussion programs, (3) Dharma activities, and (4) Dharma and entertainment programs.
