Abstract: การศึกษาเรื่องการกล่าวขอโทษในสังคมไทยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1.วิเคราะห์กลวิธีการกล่าวขอโทษในนวนิยายไทยตามปัจจัยเพศ 2. วิเคราะห์รูปแบบการกล่าวขอโทษในนวนิยายไทยตามปัจจัยเพศ 3. เปรียบเทียบกลวิธีและรูปแบบการกล่าวขอโทษในนวนิยายไทยแต่ละสมัย โดยเก็บข้อมูล จากนวนิยายไทยจำนวน 40 เรื่อง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า กลวิธีการกล่าวขอโทษของคนไทย มี 2 ประเภท ได้แก่ 1. การกล่าวขอโทษแบบตรง และการขอโทษแบบอ้อม ซึ่งกลวิธีการกล่าวขอโทษในนวนิยายไทยมี 7 กลวิธีได้แก่ 1. การกล่าวถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนาขอโทษ 2. การยอมรับผิด 3. การให้เหตุผล 4. การเสนอชดใช้ 5. การสัญญาว่าความผิดเช่นนี้จะไม่เกิดขึ้นอีก และ 6. การขอร้องและการสั่ง สำหรับรูปแบบในการกล่าวขอโทษมีทั้งหมด 5 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ แบบที่ 1 ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา แบบที่ 2 ส่วนเสริมหน้า + ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา แบบที่ 3 ส่วนเสริมหน้า + ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา + ส่วนเสริมหลัง แบบที่ 4 ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา + ส่วนเสริมหลัง และแบบที่ 5 ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา + ส่วนเสริม + ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกลวิธีการกล่าวขอโทษในนวนิยายไทย พบว่า ผู้พูดเพศชายและเพศหญิงใช้กลวิธีการกล่าวแสดงเจตนาในการขอโทษ การยอมรับผิด การให้เหตุผลและการขอร้องในทุกช่วงเวลา ส่วนกลวิธีเสนอชดใช้, การสัญญาว่าจะไม่ทำผิดอีก พบว่า ผู้พูดเพศชายใช้ทุกช่วงเวลา ในขณะที่ผู้พูดเพศหญิงใช้กลวิธีเสนอชดใช้ในช่วงเวลาที่ 3 , การสัญญาว่าจะไม่ทำผิดอีก ในช่วงเวลาที่ 3 , 4 และ 5 สำหรับกลวิธีการสั่ง พบการใช้ในผู้พูดเพศชาย ในช่วงเวลา ที่ 1 และ 4 ไม่พบการใช้กลวิธีการสั่งในผู้พูดเพศหญิง เมื่อเปรียบเทียบรูปแบบของการกล่าวขอโทษในนวนิยายทุกช่วงเวลา พบว่าในช่วงเวลาที่ 1 และ 2 มีการใช้รูปแบบการกล่าวขอโทษ 4 รูปแบบ ได้แก่ แบบที่ 1 ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา แบบที่ 2 ส่วน เสริมหน้า + ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา แบบที่ 3 ส่วนเสริมหน้า + ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา + ส่วนเสริมหลัง แบบที่ 4 ถ้อยคำแสดงเจตนา + ส่วนเสริมหลังส่วน ช่วงเวลาที่ 3 4 และ 5 มีการใช้รูปแบบการกล่าวขอโทษครบทั้ง 5 รูปแบบ The purposes of this research were to 1. analyze apologizing strategies in Thai novels according to genders, 2. analyze apologizing patterns in Thai novels according to genders and 3. compare apologizing strategies and patterns in different periods. The data on which the analysis is based are collected from 40 Thai novels. It is found that there are two types of Thai apologizing: direct and indirect apologizing which adopt 7 strategies. They are 1. using an explicit expression of apology, 2. giving reasons, 3. confessing, 4. compensating, 5. promising that this fault will not happen again 6. requesting and 7. ordering The results reveal that there are five apologizing patterns for the direct apologizing. They are 1. an explicit expression of apology, 2. an anterior supplement + an explicit expression of apology, 3. an anterior supplement + an explicit expression of apology + a posterior supplement, 4. an explicit expression of apology + a posterior supplement and 5. an explicit expression of apology + a supplement + an explicit expression of apology. According to apologizing strategies comparison in Thai novels, it is found that all six strategies were used in every period. In Period 1 and 2, both male and female authors mostly used confessing strategy. In Period 3, 4 and 5, the using an explicit expression of apology strategy was mostly used. In every period, both male and female authors used the promising that this fault will not happen again strategy the least. According to apologizing patterns comparison in Thai novels, it is found that there are four apologizing patterns in Period 1 and 2: Pattern 1 an explicit expression of apology, Pattern 2 an anterior supplement + an explicit expression of apology, Pattern 3 an anterior supplement + an explicit expression of apology + a posterior supplement and Pattern 4 an explicit expression of apology + a posterior supplement. All five apologizing patterns were used in Period 3, 4 and 5. The apologizing Pattern 4 an explicit expression of apology + a posterior supplement was mostly used in every period.
