Abstract: การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสารของผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรับจ้าง ในเกาะสมุย จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี 2) ศึกษาความต้องการพัฒนาการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการ สื่อสารของผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรับจ้าง 3) จัดทำแนวทางการส่งเสริมการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสารของผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรับจ้างโดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงพรรณนากลุ่มตัวอย่างคือผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรับจ้างที่เป็นสมาชิกในกลุ่มสหกรณ์ณ์เดินรถเกาะสมุย จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานีจำนวน 130 คน เครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามและแบบสัมภาษณ์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยการหาค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานและวิเคราะห์ความต้องการจำเป็นด้วยค่า PNI modifiedและการวิเคราะห์ SWOTผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) สภาพการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสารของผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรับจ้างในเกาะสมุย จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานีอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง 2) ผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรับจ้างมีความต้องการพัฒนาการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสารทุกด้านโดยมีค่าความต้องการจำเป็นระหว่าง 1.19-1.79 3) แนวทางการส่งเสริมการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสารของผู้ให้บริการรถโดยสารรั้บจาง ประกอบด้วย (1) สหกรณ์เดินรถเกาะสมุยจัดการฝึกอบรม (2) จัดการเรียนการสอนโดยผ่าน Application ของโทรศัพท์มือถืออย่างง่าย และการจัดทำซีดีเพื่อเปิดฟังในรถ (3) จัดหาครูผู้สอนจากแหล่งการเรียนรู้ใกล้เคียง (4) จัดหาอาสาสมัครที่เป็นชาวต่างชาติหรือเจ้าของภาษาเข้ามาช่วยในการฝึกฝน(5) มีการจัดทำสื่อการเรียนการสอนในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ (6) เร่งการพัฒนาแหล่งสถานศึกษาที่เกี่ยวข้องโดยการเพิ่มบุคลากรที่มีความชำนาญในด้านการสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษ (7) จัดหาหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องโดยตรงที่สามารถเข้ามาดูแลหรือจัดการเรียนการสอน หรือจัดหาสื่อการเรียนการสอนที่เข้าถึงได้ง่ายและราคาไม่แพง (8) ควรเพิ่มสถานศึกษาหรือหลักสูตรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการท่องเที่ยวและเปิดสอนหลักสูตรที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสาร The purposes of this research were 1) to study the condition of English for Communication usage of mini bus drivers 2) to study the need of development in English for communication usage 3) to establish the guidelines for supporting English for Communication usage. The sample was 130 mini bus drivers who were the members of Koh-Samui cooperative, Surat Thani province. The research instruments used for collecting the data were the questionnaires and the interview. All data were analyzed by SPSS in order to find frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The PNImodified method was used for analyzing of needs. SWOT was used to summarize the guidelines for supporting English for Communication usage as well. The results of the research were as follows: 1) the condition of English for communication usage of mini bus drivers was at moderate level. 2) the mini bus drivers need to develop the English for communication usage in every part and there is rate of PNImodified at 1.19-1.79 3) the guidelines for supporting the English for communication usage of mini bus drivers were as follows; (1) the cooperative of mini bus drivers provides trainings (2) the related authorities who has an important role develop an application for mobile devices or produce CD-ROM which include the English lessons. (3) the related authorities who has an important role provides teachers from the nearby education institution. (4) the related organizations should find teacher or the teacher who can provide the English training (5) there should be the development of any useful media for English learning such as CD-ROM, guidebook, etc. (6) the educational institution should be developed by adding personnel who was the expert in the field of English communication (7) the related organizations should be established to manage and facilitate English learning and provide media which was accessible and inexpensive. (8) the institution that related to tourism such as non-formal education should be established with the good administration
