Abstract:
The research onStudy of Achievement Factor in Learning and Teaching Basic English for the Bachelor of Arts Program 2012 B.C. at Mahachulalongkornrajvidyalaya University. This is the Quantitative and Qualitative Research with the objectives are to study condition and find out the way to development of the achievement factor of learning and teaching basic English under the bachelor of arts program 2012 B.C. at Mahachulalongkornrajvidyalaya University.
The research methodology and samples are the 1'* to the 4" year students program in English of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. It is 100 samples, and 10 samples gave in-depth interview. The tools of data collection used the questionnaire and in-depth interview. This research used the theory of statistics to analysis in descriptively such as percentage, mean, and in-depth interview.
Most of lecturers and students who gave a concept of the cause of achievement in English instruction were monks, and it is at average of 46.00%. It is between 31-40 years with an average of 36.00%, being as students with an average of 78.00% and having an experience in learning English between 1-5 years with an average of 48.00%.
The information that relating to the cause of Learning and teaching English is an excellent level with an average of 4.27%. It was found that curriculum was an excellent level with an average of 4.27%, and the knowledge of lecturer was excellent level with an average of 4.16%. The fundamental English of student was an excellent level with an average of 4.24%.In technology supporting of learning and teaching English was an excellent level with an average of 4.42%.
The result of achievement English instruction were the excellent level at average of 3.89%. It consist of four parts; listening ability was excellent level at average of 3.89%, speaking ability was excellent level at average of 4.26%, reading ability was excellent level at average of 4.29%, and writing ability was excellent level with an average of 3.84%.
The result of the hypothesis testing between the independent variables and the dependent variables was found that the personal information of lecturers and students is about gender, age and experience which having influence on the effectiveness of learning English in listening, speaking, writing and reading.
The result of the in-depth interview showed that the problem of curriculum is inconsistent with the profession of the students. The curriculum focuses on the direction of disseminating the principles of Buddhism and social services. Lecturers are not at expert level in English and cannot use English in academic, but they can communicate and present to students perfectly.
The students have the different Basic English background and different learning ideologies. Some of students do not attend full-time classes. Language training is not enough for their level. Therefore this problem makes it difficult for developing to be same quality level. Teaching equipment is ineffective in providing education services. The English language using ability is not enough due to the lack of practicing English skills.
