Abstract:
The study was a pre-experimental research with the following objectives: 1) to develop the learning activity package to meet the efficiency criterion of 80/80; 2) to develop the learning achievement of students; and 3) to study the satisfaction of the 6th elementary school students in Buddhism subject by using active learning method. A sample group consisted of the 6th elementary school students, Wat Chorakhe Yai School, Chorakhe Yai subdistrict, Bang Pla Ma district, Suphanburi province which were acquired by means of purposive sampling, in a total of 17 students. The research instruments were 1) 4 active learning activity packages in Buddhism on the topic of Buddha-ovāda (the Three Admonitions) and Kamma; 2) learning achievement test; and 3) satisfaction assessment form. The acquired data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), and t-test.
The results of the research are found as follows: 1) From the active learning activity package in Buddhism on the topic of Buddha-ovāda and Kamma, it is found that the pretest has an efficiency equal to the percentage of 78.75 while the posttest has an efficiency equal to the percentage of 80/08, which is according to the efficiency criterion of 80/80. This is because students take part in learning and various activities which help them to understand and find meanings to the contents by connecting with the existing experiences, distinguishing new knowledge from existing knowledge, and assessing and creating ones own idea. All of which will lead to learning with enthusiasm and skills to pick up, analyze and synthesize information in a systematic manner; 2) Students are taught by using the active learning method which has the posttest of learning achievement higher than the pretest with a statistical significance at 0.05 level. This is because it is the student-centered learning that leads to the interaction between teachers and students as well as students and students. There is also evaluation and various activities that are joined together such as speaking, reading, writing, discussing with friends, presenting the work, working together as a group, and exchanging knowledge between students until one can bring the obtained knowledge into a conceptual conclusion; and 3) Students have satisfaction toward the active learning method at a high level with a statistical significance at 0.05 level. This is because students have interaction and cooperation with friends to search for answer, discuss, exchange knowledge, summarize the knowledge, make a presentation together, create and understand knowledge based on the analytical thinking, and summarize the obtained knowledge. All of which will make students become brave in making decisions, solving problems, and thinking based on carefulness and reasons.
