The Relationship between administrators supervisory abilities and instructional standards of teachers under samutsongkhram provincial primary education office
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the supervisory abilities of administrators in schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office and also to investigate the relationship between the supervisory abilities of those administrators and the instructional standards of teachers in such schools. The aspects considered including good atmosphere provision, team formation, problem-solving of conflict, decision making, planning, controlling a meeting, assigning work, and being pioneers of change. The sample subjects were 274 teachers working in 2001 in schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office. A five rating-scale questionnaire of 30 items with the level of reliability at 0.96 was uses to collect the data on the above 8 aspects. Then mean, standard deviation, Pearsons product moment correlation coefficients were employed to analyzed the data.
The findings were as follows: 1. The supervisory abilities of administrators in schools under Samutsongkhram Provincial Primary Education Office dealing with those 8 aspects were generally viewed at high levels. 2. Two aspects found significant at the .05 level in indicating the relationship between the supervisory abilities and instructional standards were planning and controlling a meeting with the predictability of 8.70%. Moreover, adding the aspect of assigning work could increase the predictability to 14.60% at the same statistically significant level.
