Abstract:
The goals of this study were to 1) investigate government policies that encourage and support the electric vehicle industry, and 2) propose a model for integrating government policies to enhance the electric vehicle industry's sustainability in Thailand. It is a mixed method study that includes qualitative research, which includes conducting in-depth interviews with executives from government agencies and the private sector to determine how to better support the policy, and quantitative research, which includes distributing questionnaires to the general public in Bangkok and its neighborhoods. Data on policy, promotion factors affecting views and participation in policy adjustments to support the electric vehicle industry, environmental challenges, and policy proposals were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The research found that 1) the government's strategy of encouraging and supporting the electric vehicle industry is a favorable policy that will result in widespread use of electric vehicles in Thailand, reducing air pollution and reducing the country's energy consumption. Government policies should be more transparent in their promotion and require appropriate publicity. 2) Clear government promotion, a strategy for Thai industrial development focusing on the electric vehicle industry, a mechanism to promote the government's market by lowering the price of electric vehicles, a concrete law on the use of electric vehicles, infrastructure factors of electric charging stations, and promotion of technology and research are some of the factors affecting the promotion and support of the electric vehicle industry policy in Thailand. Government policies must be clear in order to be successful, and there must be a time frame for constant assessment of performance and participation in the formation of policies integrating people interested in both government and private sectors.
