Abstract: AC induction machines are mainly found in large industrial applications. One of the efficient and effective methods for stopping them are related to DC injection. For steady-state analysis and calculation of their stopping times, braking torque curves are often needed. Since the calculation of these curves mostly relies on the conventional simplified equivalent-circuit model, the obtained result may not accurate. In this paper, effects of nonlinear saturation and skin effects are further incorporated into the torque curve calculation. The computed torque curves are then validated against those arrived from the laboratory measurement. The study results show a good agreement of the torquespeed curves between measurement and calculation
