Abstract:
Poly( lactic acid) (PLA) is one of the most interesting alternatives for the replacement of petroleumbased
plastics and widely utilization in the production of biodegradable products. However, the low degradation rate and specific environmental degradation of PLA still lead to accumulation of wastes. Therefore, the recycling of plastic is the efficient method to manage waste sustainably. However, the mechanical and thermal properties of the recycled PLA
are deteriorated during the recycling process. This research aimed to improve the mechanical and thermal properties of recycled PLA by incorporating thermoplastic poly(etherester) (TPEE), a very flexible thermoplastic polyester, and a chain extender (Joncryl).The recycled PLA/TPEE at the ratio of 80/20 (by wt.) was first melted with four loadings of Joncryl (0.52 parts per hundred of resins, phr) on a twinscrew extruder, followed by injection molding to investigate the mechanical and thermal properties of the blends
