Abstract:
Nowadays, many antiseptic products have been produced and sold around the country due to the breaking out
of COVID-19. The quality of these products, especially the contents of their active ingredients are important for antiseptic activity. In this study, a simple high-performance liquid chromatographic method was modified from an existing report and validated for determination of chloroxylenol in antiseptic products. The method was employed with C8 column and the mixture of 0.05% phosphoric acid and methanol (40:60, %v/v) as a mobile phase at a flow rate
1 mL/min and detected at UV 220 nm. The method was validated for linearity and range (10-100 μg/mL), recovery,
precision, and specificity. The validation results indicated that the method was suitable for intends purpose with R2
higher than 0.999 for linearity, 99.1-100.2% for recovery (%), 0.45 and 1.22 %RSD for repeatability and intermediate
precision. Specificity of the method was approved with accepted purity index. The method was able for determination of chloroxylenol in the commercial products
