Predicting Factors of Preventive Behaviors for Agricultural Chemical Exposure of Garlic Growers, Mae Kha Subdistrict, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province
Abstract:
This study was a cross-sectional survey research. The objective of the study to predicting factors of preventive behaviors for agricultural chemical exposure of garlic growers in Mae Kha Subdistrict, Fang district, Chiang Mai Province. The sample group was 200 people, sampling by simple random sampling. Data were collected by using a questionnaire, and analyzed by frequency distribution, percentage, mean score, standard deviation. And factors of preventive behaviors relation were analyzed by Chi-square, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression. The results showed that most of the samples were male (84.50%), marital status was married/couple (88.00%), graduated in primary school (79.00%), average family income from garlic planting was 97,725.00 + 59,566.68 baht per year, average occupation of garlic planting was 19.68 + 8.50 years, the secondary occupations was other agriculture together which garlic planting (68.50%), average duration of agricultural chemical exposure was 22.78 + 9.60 years. The most agricultural chemical exposure was Mancozeb (81.50%), and the majority spraying by themselves (70.00%). Level of pesticide preventive behaviors of garlic growers was high. Factors statistically related to pesticide preventive behavior of garlic growers were Benomyl using, Perceived self-efficacy in preventive agricultural chemical exposure, outcome expectation in preventive agricultural chemical exposure, access-literacy, communication skill, decision skill, self-management skill and redia-literacy. And this study also found that access-literacy, media-literacy and outcome expectation was able to predict the preventive agricultural chemical exposure by 33.40 percent that statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
