The practical approach of inclusive education for children with special requirement in primary school under the Saraburi priamry educational service area office 2
Abstract:
This research aimed to: 1) explore the inclusive education provision for children with special requirements in the primary schools under the Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, and 2) find out the practical approach of inclusive education for children with special requirements in the primary schools under the Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2.
The population in the research consisted of school administrators from 136 schools under Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. The key informants in the interview comprised seven administrators. The instruments included five-rating-scale questionnaires and interview forms. The collected data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation for the quantitative research, and content analysis for the qualitative study.
Results revealed that: 1) the overall and individual aspects of inclusive education provision for children with special requirements in elementary schools under the Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 was at a high level, and 2) the practical approach of inclusive education for children with special requirements in elementary schools under the Saraburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 could be presented in the following aspects: for the student aspect, schools gave students with special needs an opportunity to study in regular classes with other normal students based on their potential and abilities. For the environment aspect, schools appointed and assigned a working group to prepare media, technology, facilities, and other supplies for teaching and learning activities. For the activities in teaching and learning, schools provided a variety of learning processes focusing on student-centered approach, and techniques for learning management suitable for these students through the preparation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individual Implementation Plan (IIP). For the tool aspect, schools provided these students with media, facilities, and other educational assistance in line with their own unique needs by encouraging teachers to attend training courses in producing special educational media.
