Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to: 1) compare the Primary 3 (Grade 3) students mathematical word problem-solving ability before and after learning through the application of SSCS model and bar model teaching method, 2) the Primary 3 (Grade 3) students mathematical word problem-solving ability before and after learning through conventional method, and 3) compare the Primary 3 (Grade 3) students mathematical word problem-solving ability between the students learning through the application of SSCS model and bar model teaching method and the students learning through conventional method.
The sample of this research was consisted of 60 Primary 3 (Grade 3) students studying in Wat Aiyikaram school, Thanyaburi district, Pathum Thani province in the second semester of academic year 2019. The research instruments were the application of SSCS model and bar model lesson plans, conventional lesson plans, and mathematical word problem-solving tests. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test.
The research indicated that 1) the Primary 3 (Grade 3) students mathematical word problem-solving ability after learning through the application of SSCS model and bar model teaching method was significantly higher than before learning at .05 level, 2) the Primary 3 (Grade 3) students mathematical word problem-solving ability after learning through conventional method was significantly higher than before learning at .05 level, and 3) the Primary 3 (Grade 3) students mathematical word problem-solving ability of the students learning through the application of SSCS model and bar model teaching method was significantly higher than the students learning through conventional method at .05 level.
