Abstract:
This study aimed to: 1) study trait leadership of educational administrators in Chinese private schools in Bangkok, and 2) investigate the practical guideline of developing trait leadership of educational administrators in Chinese private schools in Bangkok.
The population of the study included 200 teachers in Chinese schools in Bangkok under the Office of the Private Education Commission and six school administrators of Chinese private schools in Bangkok. The instruments for data collection consisted of questionnaires and interview forms. The statistics used in the study included frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.
The results indicated that: 1) the overall trait leadership of the educational administrators in Chinese private schools in Bangkok was at a high level. 2) The practical guideline of developing trait leadership of the educational administrators in Chinese private schools in Bangkok consisted of six dimensions, including: (1) having high intelligence: administrators should have analytical thinking skills and be able to synthesize policy planning and work planning, be able to analyze data and situations, be open minded and accept new aspects for future advancement; (2) having integrity: administrators should adhere to truth and rightness, support, and believe in rightness and integrity by encouraging teachers and students in creating values of integrity; (3) having self-confidence: administrators should dare to speak, think, take a risk, take action to initiate and create new things, as well as respect themselves and have self-esteem, which indicate their self-confidence; (4) having emotional and psychological maturity: administrators should express positive thoughts and emotions, and have good relationship with every personnel in the school; (5) having success-oriented mindset: administrators should commit to resource allocation thoroughly and promote various activities to develop personnel appropriately, and accept the consequences of their actions with readiness to improve; (6) having enthusiasm: administrators should be inquiring to develop their own and other peoples knowledge and abilities, and be up-to-date by implementing theories appropriately to develop their schools.
