Consumers' Demand Behavior towards the Loom Silk and Guidelines for Promoting Local Wisdom Silk in the Digital Economic Era : A Case Study of Ban Sai Ngam, Nikhom Sub-district, Satuk District, Buriram Province
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to study the behavior of consumers' needs towards
purchasing loom silk, a local wisdom of Ban Sai Ngam, 2) to compare the status and consumers' behavior towards purchasing loom silk, the local wisdom of Ban Sai Ngam in terms of gender, income and educational status of consumers; and 3) to study the guidelines for promoting the wisdom of loom silk production in the digital economic era of Sai Ngam Village, Nikhom Subdistrict, Satuk District, Buriram Province. There were two sample groups. The first group consisted
of 364 persons of silk consumers who came to buy products, and the second group were 10 persons
of loom silk entrepreneurs. The reliability level from other sample group was at .867. The data
were analyzed by using percentage, mean and standard deviation. The hypotheses were tested by
using t-test and one-way ANOVA analysis of variance and multiple comparison test (Scheffe'
Method). The research results revealed that
1. The consumers' demand behavior towards purchasing loom silk which is the local
wisdom of Ban Sai Ngam was at a high level in overall aspect, which can be arranged from the
highest to the lowest average as follows: value added for silk production in the digital era, decision
to buy silk, local wisdom promotion and silk production wisdom conservation, the demand for loom silk, transfer of the loom silk wisdom and consumer behavior, respectively.
2. The results of the comparison of the opinions of the buyers of local loom silk
classified by gender, age and educational status was not significantly different.
3. The guidelines for promoting silk production wisdom were as follows, set the proper
price according to the cost, reduce production costs and publicize the product through social media.
