The Effects of Oral Health Promotion Programs Among Children 0-3 Years's Parents at Well Baby Clinic in Mae Bong Health Promoting Hospital, Chokchai Subdistrict, Doiluang District, Chiang Rai Province
Abstract:
This study was a quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of oral health promotion programs among 0-3 years parents at well baby clinic in Mae bong health promoting hospital, Chokchai Subdistrict, Doiluang District, Chiang Rai Province. The samples selected were parents of children 86 people and 86 children who got service form well baby clinic. There were 2 groups of samples; control group and experiment group that was got oral health promotion programs, each group consisted of 43 people equally. The instrument used were interviews and dental plaque plates recorder. Data were collected during January-April 2018. The statistics used were percentage, mean, standard deviation. Statistics Independent sample t-test and Paired sample t-test. The study indicated that the experimental group consisting the parent of a child had knowledge, attitude and practice regarding oral hygiene in perception of opportunity for oral disease in children and perception of oral violence in children more than before trial and more than the comparison group. There was a significant difference (P-value < 0.001). And the children's health service group which had declined before trial and lower than the comparison group. There was a significant difference (P-value <0.001). This program could reduce plaque and prevent dental caries. It also encouraged parents to learn how to take care of children's oral health.
