The Effects of Dental Health Education Program for Gingivitis Prevention Among the Six Grade Students in Doiloung Hospital, Doiloung District Chiang Rai Province
Abstract:
This study is a quasi-experimental study using two groups: pretest and posttest design. The objective was to study the effect of dental health program to gingivitis prevention behavior among sixth grade in doiluang hospital, doiluang district,chaingrai province. The study group comprised 78 students. The sample size were selected by sample random sampling into 2 groups. The 39 students were assigned into the experimental group and 39 students were comparison group. The experimental group received both selfefficacy application in order to develop the gingivitis preventive behavior. The total duration of program was 8 weeks. Data were collected two times, it is to say before and after the intervention, using questionnaire and plaque index records. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test, and independent t-test. Significantly level at 0.05 Results showed that, The experimental group had significantly better perceived self-efficacy, outcome expectation, preventive practice than before and that of the comparison group 0.05. Their average plaque index was also significantly decreased 0.05 after participated in the dental health promotion program.
