Abstract:
Nowadays, the tourism business has high competition including tourists attractions, transportation, airlines and especially accommodation. Accommodation business such as hotel, resort, hostel, and other lodging have rapidly grown due to the rise in the number of tourists. Due to the high competition, the large or chain hotels can take advantage of the increasing numbers of tourists while the small and mediumsize hotels with limited resource have suffered with the dramatic growth in the digital world which means that hotel rooms can be sold online easily. This research studies the revenue management in the small and mediumsized hotels considering the problems and obstacles that prevent these hotels from not applying revenue management strategies in their hotels, and presenting the process of data collection which is the first step of implementing revenue management approach that should improve hotels productivity and profit. This research uses several research methods, which are documentary research, participative observation and content analysis to study the process of data collection for revenue management that small and medium-sized hotels can use without the need for unaffordable software. The result found that there are numerous of data that should be collected divided to historical, current, and future data and after collecting the data that hotel can perform analysis for further decision making including pricing and non-pricing management. The result of applying revenue management in the hotel shows that the annual overall revenue of 2019 has increased by 8% from the revenue of 2018. In addition, the revenue of OTAs in 2019 has rapidly grown by 34% compared to last years production
