Abstract:
This research conducted by mixed-methods research, which is the combination of qualitative research, quantitative research, and focuses group discussion. The researcher divided the research process into 3 processes. For the first step of the researching process is conducting research using a concurrent parallel design which contains two types. Frist is qualitative researching that have objectives to study the positive perspective of manager that effect to the intention to stay with the organization and implement by in-depth interview management of the production engineering department in the automation manufacturing sector for 8 people, used semi-structured interviews is a tool to collect data. Second is a quantitative research that has objective to study the influence from retention factor that effect to employees' intention to stay and implement by sample the group of staff and senior staff for 200 people at the production engineering department in the automation manufacturing, used questionnaires to collect data and analyses by descriptive statistics, Inferential statistic and Enter Multiple Regression Analysis. The second step researching is using of information obtained from the first step to support focus group discussions and develop strategies for employee retention, the sample group consisted of staff, senior staff and Manager for 68 people at the production engineering department in the automation manufacturing. After the results of the group discussions were obtained, SONEAR was analyzed to create a policy and strategy for employee retention. The third step of researching is quantitative Research which is survey research to study employees satisfaction with practical implementation. The samples were employees from the staff level, senior staff and manager of the production engineering department in the automation manufacturing for 100 people. Using questionnaires to collect data and the statistics used in the analyses were descriptive statistics. The research results (1) Test results show that independent variables employee retention influence intention of employee to stay in the organization with statistical significance of 0.05 (2) From the results of in-depth interviews, Positive perspectives of manager which is effective to retentiveness, in sample organization are 1) good teamwork, 2) perfection in performing a good supervisors role and 3) successfulness on an assigned task. (3) From the results of the focus group discussion, Stakeholders develop retention strategies in 6 aspects, consisted of 1) work and life balance, 2) compensation and benefit, 3) growth and earning potential of career path, 4) training and development, 5) work environment and 6) supervisors role. (4) Employee satisfaction survey results, Employees highly satisfy with retention policy. (5) Result of employee retention research can be formulated to new guidance to retain production engineer employee in automated manufacturing. This new guidance is the results from organization members idea which is called 2M1W model contain three main areas including M (Man), W (Work), and M (Motivation) and four intersection area including skill, challenge, opportunity, retention. Integration of these three main areas and intersection area are used for strategic planning of the sample organization.
