Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to: 1) study the conceptual framework of entrepreneurial university suitable for Thai private university; 2) study the current situation, desirable conditions of management, and need assessment for developing Thai private university management according to the concept of entrepreneurial university; and 3) propose guidelines for development of Thai private universitys management according to the concept of entrepreneurial university. The sample groups were: 1) private university, in which the informants were 154 private university administrators from 20 institutions, selected by cluster sampling, divided by region and population proportion; and 2) 5 qualified experts acquired by purposive sampling, including private university administrators and government organization/business/industrial organization executives. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire, an interview instrument, and assessment to reveal the appropriateness and feasibility of developing Thai private universitys management under the concept of entrepreneurial university. Data were analyzed using frequency, mean, standard deviation, priority need index, and content analysis.
The research results can be summarized as follows: 1. The study found 6 main guidelines for Thai private universitys management according to the concept of entrepreneurial university: a) organization management; b) learning management; c) research and innovation development; d) intellectual property management; e) cooperation network; and f) performance result. 2. Current situations, desirable conditions of management, and need assessment of developing Thai private universitys management according to the concept of entrepreneurial university showed the overall current situation of management for entrepreneurial university was moderate with organizational management having the highest average, and performance having the lowest average. Overall desirable condition of management for entrepreneurial university was high with organizational management having the highest average, and intellectual property management and cooperation network having the lowest average. The need regarding development, the ranking was as follows: 1) performance result; 2) cooperation network; 3) intellectual property management; 4) organization management; 5) learning management; and 6) research and innovation development. 3. Guidelines for developing Thai private universitys management according to the concept of entrepreneurial university consisted of 6 main guidelines and 16 sub-guidelines as follows: 1) performance result with 4 sub-guidelines; 2) cooperation network with 2 sub-guidelines; 3) intellectual property management with 2 sub-guidelines; 4) organization management with 3 sub-guidelines; 5) learning management with 3 sub-guidelines; and 6) research and innovation development with 2 sub-guidelines.
