Abstract:
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to: 1) study the transformational leadership and social responsibilities of recycling businesses; 2) compare the social responsibilities of recycling businesses as classified by organizational factors; 3) study the transformational leadership affecting the social responsibilities of recycling businesses; and 4) identify guidelines for developing the transformational leadership affecting social responsibilities of recycling businesses. Mixed method was used in this study. The sample was 210 entrepreneurs of recycling business in Bangkok Metropolitan and vicinity derived by quota sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire with the acceptable level of content validity and reliability. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression. For qualitative research, data were collected by an interview of the Director of Industrial Environment Technology Promotion Division and executives of recycling business, totaling 5 people, derived by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed with content analysis.
The research results showed that:
1. The transformational leadership and the social responsibility were at the highest level.
2. The recycling business entrepreneurs with differences in the number of employees, type of establishment, and period of operation had differences in social responsibility with statistical significance.
3. The transformational leadership affecting the social responsibilities of recycling businesses in Bangkok Metropolitan and vicinity were idealized influence (X1), individualized consideration (X4), and inspirational motivation (X2) with the predictive power at 52.9 percent. The equation was:

4. The guidelines for developing transformational leadership affecting social responsibilities of recycling businesses in Bangkok Metropolitan and vicinity were: applying modern technology to develop the potential achievement of recycling businesses; encouraging team working; communicating to community about prevention and resolution for pollution and environmental problems in the future; encouraging motivation and creativity in operating recycling businesses; and understanding the differences of people in the community.
