The Construction of Mathematics Diagnostic Tests on Sequence and Series for Grade 5 Students Under the Jurisdiction of the Provincial Administrator Organization in Sisaket
Abstract:
Abstract
The purposes of this research were to 1) create a diagnostic tests on Sequence and Series for grade 5 students under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Administrator Organization in Sisaket2) check the quality on tests that the researcher had to create on validate out the content validity, the difficulty of discrimination, and the confidence of tests and 3) study the error of students in mathematics course on Sequence and Series specific for grade 5 students under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Administrator Organization in Sisaket.
The sample of this research as the students in grade 5 as the second semester in which academic year 2560 consisted of 9 schools under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Administrator Organization in Sisaket with 440 students who were selected by Muti-Stage Random Sampling technique. The research instruments were error of the dictation tests as 5 issues and the diagnostic answering questions tests as 5issues, one issue has 10 items for 4 choices. The issues were
1) Knowledge Sequences, 2) Arithmetic Sequences, 3) Geometric Sequences, 4) Arithmetic Seriesand 5) GeometricSeries.Statistics used in data analysis include: Average percentage standard deviation
The results of this research were as follow:
1. The diagnostic tests Sequence and Series had 5 editions with four multiple choices. The diagnostic test 1 knowledge of the sequence consisted of 10 items, the diagnostic test 2 arithmetic sequence consisted of 10 items, the diagnostic test 3 sequence consisted of 10 items, the diagnostic test 4 geometry arithmetic series consisted of 10 items and the diagnostic test 5 geometric series consisted of 10 items. totally 50 items.
2. The contentvalidity of the mathematics diagnostic tests 5 issues had the difficulty
index of each items ranged from 0.53 0.66. The discrimination calculate of each items ranged from 0.260.94. Theconfident calculate by Binary Method ranged from 0.78, 0.76, 0.73, 0.77, and 0.75. The content validity of the mathematics diagnostic tests 5 issues had IOC ranged from 0.8 1.00. the top on cut out of 5 tests that ranged 3, 4, 3, 4, and 5. And the percent of students pass of tests as 94.09, 74.77, 63.64, 67.72 and 62.73.
3. Defect analysis of students' answers in the diagnostic tests. Serial and serial I found the student defective. It does not understand the process of finding the general in term n of the sequence and the lack of understanding of the formula (sn) of Arithmetic Series.
