Abstract:
Overweight or obese will cause problems for the body in all organs and all parts of the body the people are overweight mostly because there are different behaviors especially in the elderly. In addition, the body has been used for a long time the daily lifestyle changes as well. Therefore, this study has to find the relationship between perceived health threat and obesity among the elderly. The sample was 267 elderly people in Wiang Kao District, Khon Kaen Province. It was acquired by stratified random sampling. Data collected thorugh structured interviews and analysis by percentage, mean, standard deviation and find a relationship with Chi Square. The study indicated that the majority of the respondents are female (64.0). The average age is 70.69+-6.34 years old. The highest primary education (92.1) is still occupation (55.8). Average weight 55.91+-8.56 kg. Average height 154.96+-7.10 cm. Waist circumference average 84.24+-10.29 cm. Around the hip average 93.66+-8.69 cm. Perception of Health Threats perception of violence perception of risk the social support of the elderly was 42.3%, 41.6% 40.8%, 43.8%, respectively. Body mass index was found to be 58.1% in obesity. The waist circumference was found to be obese 50.2% and body mass index along with waist circumference 40.8 percent were obese. Older women were obese than men, 2.9, 12.3, 11.3 times respectively. Age, occupation, education, perceived health threat perception of violence perception of risk overall social support emotional support evaluation information tooling was not associated with obesity. Therefore, there should be guidelines to prevent obesity for the elderly.
