Abstract:
The objectives of this study were 1) to study factors influencing consumers selection to purchase available bamboo wickerwork handicraft products. Population and sample of this study aged 20 years or above, earned monthly income of over 20,000 baht, who visited and selected to purchase handicraft products from OTOP exhibitions at IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, BITEC Exhibition Centre Bangkok in Bangna and Baanlaesuan Fair and style Bangkok Fair 2018-2019 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The sample size was determined based on Krejcie & Morgans table. Total number of population and sample was 50. The questionnaire was used as the research instrument. 2) to study local handicraft wisdom of Traditional Bamboo Handicraft Center located in Phanat Nikhom district, Chon Buri. Population and sample of this study consisted of three experts in the area of Traditional Bamboo Handicraft Center located in Phanat Nikhom district, Chon Buri. Data were collected by semi-structured interview with open-ended questions. 3) To design bamboo handicraft products that would be consistent with consumers needs in today's society. Population and sample consisted of three handicraft designing experts. The research instrument was evaluation scale of experts opinions towards developed products. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics to determine mean and standard deviation. 4) To evaluate the consumers satisfactions. 50 consumers satisfactions with the product designs were examined through conducting a survey and ranked to find the most impressive design. The results of this research indicated that the main purpose of our purchasing the product was for personal usages. The respondents appreciated beautiful pattern of wickerwork products. In terms of factors influencing the purchase of bamboo wickerwork products, product quality had the highest mean score (x̄ = 4.82, S.D. = 0.48). By studying local handicraft wisdom of Traditional Bamboo Handicraft Center located in Phanat Nikhom district, Chon Buri, it was found that the products were quality and beautiful resulting in more price. Traditional wickerwork patterns have been inherited from one generation to the next generation. Few patterns have been newly developed. For different wickerwork patterns and product designed by the researcher, three experts opinions towards the developed products could be summarized that bag products in stylel (Clutch bag with field pattern) was the highest suitable level (µ=4 .67,σ =0.14), Wall Picture Products in style 2 (Fence pattern) was the highest suitable level (µ =4.83, σ = 0.14) and Jewelry products Round earrings was the highest suitable level (µ =4.75, σ = 0.00). Evaluate the consumers satisfactions about products summarized that Bag products in Clutch bag with Field pattern and Round bag with Brick pattern have the highest suitable level at the same total score (x̄ = 4.45, S.D. = 0.09) Wall Picture Products in Fence pattern have the highest suitable level (x̄ = 4.66, S.D. = 0.17) and Jewelry products Round earrings have the highest suitable level (x̄ =4.58, S.D. = 0.07)
