Abstract:
This descriptive research aimed to study learning styles of nursing students. The sample were 210 nursing students (the 1st to 4th year) at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi in academic year 2010. The researcher collected data by nursing students learning styles questionnaire. Data analysis included means, standard deviation and one way ANOVA.
The results showed that the nursing students had a high level in collaborative learning style. Dependent, independent and participant learning styles were at moderate level, and competitive and avoidant learning styles were at low level. Comparison of the learning styles among academic year showed that there were significant statistically different. The Least Significant Difference Test (LSD Test) showed that the mean total score of learning styles of each pair had significant (p<.05) difference. The 1st year nursing students had independent and avoidant learning styles lower than the 2nd year nursing students and dependent learning style higher than the 4th year nursing students. Independent and avoidant learning styles of the 2nd year nursing students was more than the other years. Dependent and competitive learning styles of the 3rd year nursing students was more than the other years and participant learning style higher than the 2nd and 4th year nursing students. Comparing the learning styles among academic achievement, the result showed that the nursing students who had high level of academic achievement had significant statistically (p<.01) higher in avoidant learning style than who had middle and low level.
