Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study about self-other ratings agreement among teachers self and other ratings, teacher supervisors, peers and students. Detecting leniency error and halo error among that two groups. They used six levels of Likert scale questionnaires which researcher modified from Kamninkoonakorn, V. (1986) to rate teaching effectiveness in secondary school. The characteristics of teaching effectiveness in secondary school were teachers' personality, academic abilities, attitude to students and subjects taught, teacher-student relationships, teaching techniques and evaluation practices. The samples composed of two groups, the97 teachers self rating and other ratings included 95 teachers' supervisors, 186teachers' peers and 1912 of their students. Lisrel techniques was applied to detect the agreement among results of teaching effectiveness of self rating and other ratings. Leniency error and halo error were detected by the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney Test and the independent t-test. The results of study could be summarized as followed: 1. There were agreement between self rating and other ratings of teaching effectiveness in secondary school. 2. Leniency error was found in teachers self rating less than student ratings at .05 significant level. But was not found in other rater groups, supervisors and peers. 3. Halo error in teachers self rating was not found significant at .05 less than other ratings.
