Abstract:
Thailand is predominantly an agricultural country. Agriculture depends heavily upon rainwater. The study of rainfall characteristics is therefore important. In this study the start and end, the duration of the rainy season, and the rainfall amount in Thailand were analyzed in the 2020-2029 compare to 1900-1999 periods. The data used in the research consist of the observational data and the simulation from WRF model driven by the boundary conditions from CMIP5 data. The fractional accumulation rainfall from the observed data and the simulation show similar patterns. There will probably be an early onset of rainy season in most areas of the country. The early retreat of the season also noticed indicating the earlier shift of rainy season in some areas. The duration of rainy season will probably shorter in most area of the southern, upper northern, and northeastern Thailand while the rest of area, this duration is expected to be longer. The amount of rainfall might decrease by around 5 percent.""
