Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to compare the opinions concerning social studies instruction between upper secondary school students in science program and foreign language program in the following four aspects: the objectives of social studies curriculum, characteristic of social studies content, social studies instructional process and usefulness of social studies. The results of the study were as follows : the comparison of opinions concerning social studies instruction between 240 upper secondary science program students and 237 foreign language program students, selected by multi-stage stratified random sampling from 16 secondary schools in Bangkok Metropolis, were not different at the 0.01 level of significance in the following aspects : the objectives of social studies curriculum, characteristic of social studies content, and social studies instructional process, which rejected the hypothesis of the research. But the opinions of both groups of students concerning the usefulness of social studies were significantly different at the 0.01 level.
