Abstract:
The research on ‚Public opinion and entrepreneurs on the impact of tourism
promotion events in Pattaya City‛ aimed to: 1) study the opinions of people and entrepreneurs in
the area about the economic, social and environmental impacts from the tourism promotion events
in the Pattaya City area; and 2) compare the opinions of people and entrepreneurs in the area
about the economic, social and environment impacts arising from the tourism promotion events in
the Pattaya City area, collecting data from people living in the Pattaya City area, account of 394
people and entrepreneurs in the Pattaya City area, account of 332 people by using a systematic
sampling, a tool used in the research were questionnaires with reliability of 0.847, and data
analysis with descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The results found that:
(1) Impact on the public: found that the economic aspect, the public has the opinion
that arranging tourism promotion events in the Pattaya City area, causing the changes that there
were more outside area merchants coming to trade in the area; the social aspect, there was support
for customs, culture, traditions and identity of the local community for more activities; and the
environmental aspect, to take care of the cleanliness in the area in front of self-house more.
(2) Impact on entrepreneurs: found that the economic aspect, the entrepreneurs have
the opinion that arranging tourism promotion events in the Pattaya City area, causing the changes
that there were more outside area merchants coming to trade in the area; the social aspect, causing
conflicts between locals and tourists, such as loud noise or changes in daily life, causing the
residents in the area were not satisfied; and the environmental aspect, to take care of the
cleanliness in the area in front of self-house more.
(3) The comparison of opinions of the people and entrepreneurs in the area regarding
the economic impact found that there were consistent opinions, causing the changes that there
were more outside area merchants coming to trade in the area; the social aspect, the public has the opinion that causing the changes that there was support for customs, culture, traditions and
identity of the local community for more activities, while the entrepreneurs have the opinion that
causing conflicts between locals and tourists, such as loud noise or changes in daily life, resulting
the residents in the area were not satisfied; and the environmental aspect, it was found that the
people and entrepreneurs have consistent opinions, namely causing the changes in the cleanliness
in the area in front of self-house more.
