Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to create an interdisciplinary knowledge test based on the 21st century learning concepts of upper secondary school students, 2) to examine the structural validity of the test, and 3) to establish test norms. The test was administered to a sample of 1,032 students selected through multi-step randomization. The Lisrel 8.7 computer program was used to derive confirmatory factors. The results revealed that:
1. The interdisciplinary knowledge test based on the 21st century learning concept of upper secondary school students consisted of five areas involving 19 questions covering Global Awareness, Financial, Economics, Business and Entrepreneurial Literacy, Civic Literacy, Health Literacy and Environmental Literacy. Content validity was found to exceed .70 for every item. Test reliability was found to be satisfactory. 2. Examination of the structural validity of the test revealed that knowledge about the world, knowledge about finance, economics, business and entrepreneurship and knowledge of health were the most relevant dimensions, followed by environment and good citizenship, respectively. The structural validity of the test was determined to be at a good level. 3. Three stanine levels were developed for test norms: High (stanies from 7 to 9), Medium (stanines from 4 to 6), and Low (stanines below 4).
