Study of computer technology implementation and support in basic education schools under the Office of Private Education Commission in Bangkok Metropolis
Abstract:
This research is to study the implementation and its support of the computer technology in basic Education schools under the Office of Private Education Commission in Bangkok Metropolis. The limitation of this study was to study the implementation and its support under the boundary of its management. The population samples are school principals and teachers in charged of the school computer-technology. The collected data was from survey questionnaires constructed based on the conceptual framework of Edwin Merritt and Associates from Task Force on Education Telecommunications report 1977 and analyzed by frequency and percentage. Followings are some of results found showing according to their significance in each category. Planning - computer technology plans were developed the most for teaching and learning but were actually implemented the most in school business administrative tasks. Physical Infrastructure - many forms of Physical Infrastructure caring were attained including computer equipment, its gadgets, and environment, however, most of schools did not particularly prearranged a place for the computer service. Equipment - there were enough computers for schools needs and most of them were in good conditions. On-going Operations - budgeting was done case by case depended on the necessity, there was the fee for computer service for publics which considered as a part of the on-going operations income. People - person responsible for school computer technology tasks was selected by the administrator, staff-development in computer skills were done through external channels, trained-staff were assigned for computer tasks in addition to their regular jobs and without any privilege. Integration of Technology and Curriculum - Schools did integrated technology and curriculum, the integration was in some subjects and mostly done through games in education.
