Abstract:
This research aims at studying the art of writing of Chao Phraya Phra Klang (Hon)s poetical works in order to illustrate the outstanding characteristics of the usage of sounds, words and description that creates a harmonious beauty in his works. The researcher has studied 10 poetical works of Chao Phraya Phra Klang (Hon); Lilit Petch Mongkut, Inao Kham Chan, Klon Lae Rai Jaruek Rueang Sang Phu Kao thi Wat Ratchakrue, Klong Payuhayattra Petch Puang, Lilit Srivichai Jataka, Rai Yao Vessantara Jataka Kanda Kumara and Kanda Matsi, Sombat Amarin Khamklon, Kakie Klon Supap, Pleng Yao Len Wa Khwam and Pleng Yao Prarop Thung Ruang Vatta Samsara. It is clear that Chao Phraya Phra Klang (Hon) uses various types of verse-form, all of them are precise and correct. The language use in his poetry are suitable for the content with pleasant rhymes and melodies. Moreover, the poet uses simple words which are melodious and comprehensive. The poet enhances the beauty of his works by using homonyms and synonyms. The use of homonym, the poet often uses the alphabets rhyme in the form of couple rhyme words in every type of meters. The using of synonyms, the poet often usage reduplicated words, paring words and synonyms. The homonym and synonym often appears in special meter. Mostly from adding rhyme and repetition which is a distinguished characteristics of his works. In his poetic description, the poet also employs four styles of Thai poetic expression that are the expression of the beauty praising, of courting, of anger and of sorrow. It is clear that the art of writing is a distinguished device in contributing an excellence of his poetic expression in all his works.
