Abstract:
Biosorbent was successfully prepared from napier grass stem via functionalized with citric acid follow by co-precipitation with iron oxide solution. Its characteristics, analyzed by using ATR-FTIR VSM XRD SEM-EDX and BET techniques demonstrated that the physico-chemical properties and functional groups of its surface were made differrent. The optimized condition for malachite green adsorption were 0.05 g of adsorbent, 40 mg/L of initial dye concentration, pH 7 and 40C of adsorption temperature. Under this condition, the removal percentage of 90.01 and adsorption amount of 7.14 mg/g were obtained. The adsorption process well fit with the freundlich isotherm and the pseudo-second order kinetic model indicating that multilayer adsorption on heterogeneous suface and the adsorption capacity influenced by both dye concentration and contact time. The thermodynamic parameters define a physical, endothermic and spontaneous mechanism. The above findings recommened that these biosorbent preparation was convineient to perform, cost-effective and environmental friendly resulting in the improving of adsorption efficiency. Moreover, the magnetic property of biosorbent facilitates its easy separation characteristic and and analysis time reduction.
