Work motivation of a special task force in air and coastal defend command, the royal thai navy in working in three southern border provinces and Song khla province
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was twofold. First, it aimed at examining work motivation
of a special task force unit in Air and Coastal Defend Command, the Royal Thai Navy in
working in three southern border provinces and Song Khla Province. Also, this study intended to
investigate factors affecting work motivation of this special task force. The population of this
study was 115 staff working for Air and Coastal Defend Command who were supposed to work
in a special task force unit located in three southern border provinces and Song Khla Province.
The instrument used to collect the data was a questionnaire. The statistical tests used to analyze
the collected data included frequency, percentage, standard deviation, and the test of multiple
regressions. The results of the study were as follows:
The majority of the respondents were staff at a non-commissioned level, aged 20-30,
and having an amount of income of 10,001-20,000 baht. Specifically, those who were
at a non-commissioned level 1, demonstrated a low level of risk awareness in working in a three
southern border provinces and Song Khla province.
It was found that the level of work motivation among the subjects working for
the special task force unit in Air and Coastal Defend Command, the Royal Thai Navy in
three southern border provinces and Song Khla Province was at a high level. When considering
each aspect, the one in relation to responsibility was rated with the highest mean score, followed
by the aspects of interpersonal relationship, policy and administration, job advancement,
work condition, supervision, job security and personal advancement, challenging job, acceptance
and respect, and work achievement, respectively.
Based on the test of multiple regression analysis of factors affecting work motivation among the subjects working for the special task force unit in Air and Coastal Defend Command,
the Royal Thai Navy in three southern border provinces and Song Khla Province, it was indicated
that personal factors, including, work rank, marital status, educational level, work position/
amount of monthly salary, and a level of risk awareness could account for 24.6 % of the variance
in work motivation among the subjects working for the special task force unit. Finally,
it was shown that the variables of risk awareness significantly affected work motivation among
the subjects working for the special task force unit at a significant level of .01.
