Abstract:
This descriptive research was to examine the relationships between personal factors, stress, the wife's role, marital relationship, and quality of life among infertile women. Ferrans and colleagues' Health-Related Quality of Life (2005) was used as the conceptual framework for this study. The purposive sample consisted of 62 infertile women who received assisted reproductive technologies treatment at Korat Health Center (Dr. Jamrat's private clinic), Nakhonratchasima, Thailand, from June to July 2016. Instruments used to collect data were the Demographic Data Questionnaire, Fertility Problem Inventory, Wife's Role Expectation Questionnaire, The Dyadic Adjustment Scale, and WHOQOL- BREF-THAI. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's product moment correlation were used to analyze the data. Results of the study revealed that the sample had high level of quality of life. Marital relationship and the wife's role were positively related to quality of life (r = .54, p < .05; r = .38, p < .05 respectively). Stress was negatively related to quality of life (r = -.50, p < .05). Age, educational level and family income were not correlated with quality of life. The findings of this study suggest that nurses should assess stress, marital relationship, and the wife's role of infertile women to promote quality of life among infertile women.
