Abstract:
This research is a study was to study and compare the quality of life before and after practicing exercise program of the elderly people and to study and compare physical fitness before and after practicing in the exercise program of the elderly people in Phasi-Charoen District Bangkok. The sample of this study was the elderly people in elderly Club Phasi-Charoen Bangkok, 30 Purposive sampling. Practicing with the exercise program that has been created by the researcher for 6 months. Through the data collection by the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief-Thai (WHOQOL-BREF-THAI) and Senior Fitness Test (SFT), data were processed through statistics including mean, standard deviation, and Pair Sample t-test statistic with the significance level of 0.05. The results showed the quality of life of the elderly people indicated that before and after practicing the exercise program, the sample had different mean scores on overall quality of life before and after practicing the exercise program with statistical significance level of 0.05. When individual aspects were considered, the sample had different mean of the quality of life scores on Physical Domain, Psychological Domain, and Social Relationships Domain with statistical significance level of 0.05, except that the sample had indifferent mean score on Environment Domain with statistical significance level of 0.05, it was found that before and after practicing, the sample had different mean scores on Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength & Endurance and Body Flexibility with statistical significance level of 0.05, except that the mean scores before and after practicing the exercise program on Body Composition were not different with statistical significance level of 0.05. The suggestions of this study include: Setting up the training for the leader in community or the representative for being the leader of exercise aspect, supporting in terms of the exercise machine, arranging the physical fitness assessment for the elderly people annually, arranging the officer/volunteer in visiting the elderly person, setting up the center service for consulting and solving the problem for elderly person, supporting the elderly person for joining the proper recreation activity, promoting the elderly person in community to create the activity in order to relate to the needs, focusing the participation for elderly person including with adjusting the useful space for the elderly person's benefit in order to feel comfortable in using for reducing the accident for elderly person.
