Abstract:
The objectives of this study were to investigate the learning process and selfdevelopment guidelines for persons with physical disability. The 13 key informants were selected
by purposive sampling. Data were collected in February 2018-April 2019 by in-depth interview
and non-participation observation. Data analysis were conducted by contents analysis.
The results of this research indicated as follows:
1. The learning process of persons with physical disability consists of 6 steps.
1) analysis and determination of self-needs due to personal interest and analyze learning
2) learning plan consists of the short-term and long-term learning. 3) seek for good model,
as a result of confidence, as the transmitter of knowledge, the behavior and inspiration model.
4) seek for learning resources: training center, expert and information technology. 5) Select
methods of learning to gain the knowledge, including learning from the professional, self-test
practice, information from books, social media and group data sharing 6) Evaluation of learning
from self-reliance success, the economic stability and social participation.
2. Self-development towards the physical disability persons consists of 4 steps:
1) Treatment and rehabilitation of the body functions and structure from a doctor or folk doctor,
the monks, mysticism, family care, relative and social walker 2) Positive attitude from family
acceptance, having a good model and attending social activities 3) Individualized Education:
select and mix methods of learning and apply knowledge to self-development. 4) Stability career:
creates income from the development of a career that has been inherited from the family and
a profession initiated by learning and practicing new skills
