Abstract:
This qualitative research aimed: 1) to study the social impact of migrant workers, 2) to find solutions to social problems of migrant workers who migrated to work in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo by using a purposive sampling method, and in-depth interviews were used as data collection tools. The target group that was the informants was divided into 5 subgroups. The first group consisted of 4 staff members in Khok Sung Hospital, and the second group consisted of 4 police officers from Khok Sung Police Station. The third group consisted of 2 employees from Khok Sung Provincial Electricity Authority. The fourth group consisted of 3 representatives from establishments with migrant workers in Kho Sung District, and the last group consisted of immigration police officers in Sakaeo Province. Therefore, the total was 16 people. Research findings indicated that social impacts caused by migrant workers consisted of problems concerning crime, contagious diseases, drug problems, disorder of housing, the increase of the burden on various public services, and entrepreneurial problems. The most common problem was the entrepreneurial problems, followed by the problems concerning disorder of housing, the burden on the relevant agencies in the service of contagious diseases, crime and drugs. To the approach to solve the problems of social impact of migrant workers working in Khok Sung District, Sakaeo Province, the main approach was to solve the entrepreneurial problems and the problem of disorder of housing. Immigration police should also cooperate with the Ministry of Labor to provide entrepreneurs with knowledge about labor issues and how to hire legal workers under immigration law on a regular basis. There should be meetings organized for entrepreneurs to gather together and get the information concerning the labor law. There should also be solutions to the problem of housing disorder. The immigration police of Sa Kaeo Province should cooperate with security agencies in the area, such as soldiers, border patrol current trend of labor shortage was due to rigorous and serious inspection of the immigration police
