The objectives of this research were to: 1) study the level of administrators participation in administration of private charity schools of Buddhist temples consisting of participation in budget administration, general administration, academic administration and personnel administration; 2) compare the level of administrators participation in administration as classified by gender, position, qualification, school size and location; and 3) suggest guidelines for developing participation in administration of private charity schools of Buddhist temples in Central Region. The research sample consisted of 2 groups. The first group was 321 administrators and teachers, derived by proportional stratified random sampling as distributed by school size. The second group was informants of 12 school licensees, managers, directors, vice-directors, and assistant directors, derived by purposive sampling. The research instruments were a questionnaire and an interview question constructed by the researcher with the IOC content validity of 0.67 and 1.00, and the internal consistency reliability coefficient of 0.98. Data were analyzed with percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and content analysis.
The findings of this research were as follows:
1. The administrators participation in administration of private charity schools in aspects of: budget administration, general administration, academic administration and personnel administration was at a high level.
2. The administrators participation as classified by gender in aspects of budget administration and general administration were different with statistical significance at .05. When classified by position in aspects of academic administration and budget administration, there were differences with statistical significance at .05. When classified by school size and location, there were differences with statistical significance at .05. Whereas when classified by qualification, there were no statistical differences.
The guidelines for developing administrators participation in schools administration were: 1) in academic administration, schools should organize teacher training in developing educational media and innovation and encourage teachers to conduct research in teaching and learning every semester; 2) in budget administration, schools should organize resource mobilization activities i.e. charity or donation from government and private sectors; 3) in personnel administration, schools should support welfare of teachers and students by building schools cooperatives; and 4) in general administration, schools should develop wireless and wired networks so that teachers, staff and students can use the internet for teaching and learning thoroughly.
